Corrosion Technician
We currently have an opportunity for TWO Corrosion Technicians to join our joint venture company Emirates National Chemicals Company LLC (Emochem) based in the UAE.  Emochem supplies specialty oilfield chemicals and consultancy to the Southern Arabian Gulf region.  Based in Abu Dhabi but with operations throughout United Arab Emirates, Oman and Yemen, Emochem is one of the major chemical suppliers and consultants to the National and Independent Operations Companies. 

The Corrosion Technicians will be responsible for the offshore support of an Asset Integrity Management contract with a major producer in the UAE.  The position is on a rotationary basis of 28 days onshore / 28 days offshore and the individuals have the option to be based outside UAE within a reasonable traveling distance. 

Scope of Work: 
  • Field work associated with corrosion monitoring data gathering from corrosion probes at required/specified intervals   
  • Service the advance Galvanic, LPR, E/R, Microcorr probes and other corrosion monitoring gadgets as per manufacturer recommendation
  • Operate side-stream devices for field determination of corrosively trends and effectiveness of corrosion control measures. 
  •   Monitoring and reporting corrosion inhibitor trends. 
  •   Perform Microbiological analysis to determine effectiveness of biocides used.
  • Act as custodian of all the corrosion monitoring hardware offshore. Perform upkeep and carry out recommended maintenance of corrosion monitoring instrumentation and hardware offshore.   
  •  Establish effectiveness of corrosion inhibitors used and new better formulations under Dubai petroleum conditions by conducting lab testing and field-testing.
  •  Innovate to achieve continual improvement in the areas of chemicals, methods and systems used.     
  •  Ensure that the corrosion control chemicals used, such as Corrosion Inhibitors and Biocides, meet relevant HSE requirements and are environmentally safe.   
  • Ensure that the corrosion control chemicals used meet the Quality requirements on continual basis.       
  • Conduct corrosion optimization studies, as needed. 
  •  Track and manage offshore chemical inventory and replenish as required to ensure un-interrupted chemical application
  • Consolidate and submit weekly activities report to Chemical Management Team (comprises of User group representatives, Technical authorities & Asset owners)
  • Monthly Report to be submitted summarizing key activities, KPI, chemical usage per location and field
  • Participate in review and monthly meetings scheduled by CMT and/or other meetings on as required basis

The desired candidate will have professional experience to include: 
  •  Corrosion/Materials Engineer Background is preferred; however a Production Chemist/Chemical Engineer with extensive experience in Corrosion is also suitable
  • The corrosion engineer is expected to be an expert in this field and must demonstrate capability accordingly  
  • Knowledge in Cathodic protection is not a must but would be advantageous
